Fashion Week Fall 2010

New York Mercedes Benz fashion week has come and gone yet again. And in its wake, we are left with a beautiful promise of what the fall will bring.

This year's fashion week, I had the privilege of working with a phenomenal company (which, for confidentiality purposes, shall remain unnamed) nestled in the creative hub of SoHo. I found myself working behind the scenes for the shows of Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B, Christian Siriano, Project Runway, and Toni Francesc. Their standing motto "kill them with kindness" was a constant encouragement, as we frequently encountered the frenzied wrath of the likes of Kelly Cutrone (of Bravo reality series "Kell on Earth").

Without parallel, the greatest moment was roaming the backstage of Isaac Mizrahi's Fall 2010 collection. In addition to seeing Isaac, of course, I also rubbed shoulders with two of my personal favourites: models Abbey Lee Kershaw and Karlie Kloss (the latter of whom I have been mildly obsessed with since Juergen Teller's photograph for Marc Jacob's Lola campaign).

With the show underway, we witnessed the stage gradually transform from the warm breezy tones of autumn to the stark cool light and snowfall of winter - quite literally! Masterpiece after masterpiece made its way down the runway, with a combination of ethereal femininity and bold glamour that set my heart a flutter. With models marching to the anti-melodic tunes of The Bad Plus, a group who I'm proud to claim hail from my great Twin Cities home, the creative momentum of the Mizrahi fall 2010 runway show is something that will live on in my memory - where the entirety of it's splendor can only be fully realized in having experienced it first hand. I feel absolutely honoured to have been present for such an occasion.

More fashion week images will be on my website soon, as I move towards creating an "events" category in the mlkl photography section of my page.
