For Ana & Jeff, their "chill" summer afternoon wedding was centered around hanging out and catching up with family and friends in a big Brooklyn backyard filled with picnic tables, cocktails and really delicious buffet style food. Add in elements of time-honoured family tradition, an ultra-chic blend of fun details, and a kaleidoscope of genuinely heart-felt moments and you have a truly unique day filled with as much beauty and joy as love itself.
Setting the tone for their day, Ana, a native New Yorker, dazzled in an ultra chic white silk pant & lace top combo for a perfect marriage of casual meets classy... a lady after my own heart! Tying the look together, she combined her one of a kind antique engagement ring with a custom tote (Dr. G forever!), countless pops of red (from the shoes to her lipstick, stunningly "wild" floral arrangements - hello berries!, earring details, and matching lining in her groom's jacket) and the occasional cameo of her peach-toned sunglasses. Her entourage followed suit, with mis-matched select-your-own attire and coordinating snake rings gifted from the bride. Departing from their AirBnB Harbor Tech artist loft preparation locale (a spot that had long struck Ana's curiosity), we were greeted at Gowanus' Threes Brewing with lemonade, handheld fans, disposable cameras for surprise wedding day photos from the guests' perspective, a hand-painted "KISSES" sign (part of Threes' permanent collection) and a chalkboard declaring "Ana + Jeff = Here →" featuring the obligatory lightning bolts, cupid's hearts, rainbow clouds and, of course, cacti.
Gentle nods to family and heritage made their appearance throughout the celebration as well. Honouring Jewish tradition, they integrated a Ketuba signing (with a fittingly elegance-meets-modern geometric design), Chuppah, a Kiddush cup from the groom and the conventional breaking of the glass. On Ana's side, vintage jewelry adorned with a mix of pieces from her mom - a gold, diamond & black enamel ring with art deco earrings to match (be still my heart!) and a two-tone timepiece making subtle note of their wedding date.
Amidst all the beauty and inspiration it was, as always, the moments shared both between the bride and groom and everyone surrounding them that really made the day: Ana waving away tears of anticipation moments before seeing her groom. Uncontrollable laughter with friends while striking poses during an impromptu "fashion shoot" mid-portraits. The couple pausing to excitedly wave in guests arriving early for the ceremony just before Ana would proceed to display a look of wonder as Jeff attempted a one-eyed wink. Ana stealing away to the Three's Brewing cafe bathroom for mirror access to place her blusher moments before walking up the aisle. Guests cuddling close together as they spilled into said aisle and filled in any available ground space for a closer glimpse of the couple as they exchanged "I do's". And perhaps my favourite of all... the playful interaction between the newlyweds all throughout the day - from countless stolen kisses to surprise hug-lifts from behind, a lighthearted impromptu dance while Ana peacocked for her groom during their first look, and a mischievous swig of icing on Jeff's nose mid-cutting of their summery lemon cake.
It was a day of so much laughing, so much crying, countless raised eyebrows and even more numerous hugs. Threes Brewing was absolutely brimming with love that day... a love that will no doubt follow this truly incredible duo wherever life might guide them.
