For Tess & Brendan, their wedding day was all about blending the elegance of classic New York with the light summery feel of a late June celebration, all the while honouring family heritage & tradition along the way. The setting: stately Harvard Club of New York City with it's gilded wood and gold accents for getting ready and reception combined with an absolutely breathtaking Jesuit ceremony set to the backdrop of St Francis Xaviers' domed ceilings and intricate detailing.
But what's more, the importance of family, tradition and faith was so very evident in the countless details woven throughout the day: the heritage-honouring Irish bagpiper that greeted guests, a friend of the bride's father serving as priest of ceremony, an inherited "Miraculous Medal" pinned to Tess's bouquet, and heirloom family wedding portraits dating back several generations. Even hosting the celebration in New York City was itself a nod to the very place Tess's grandmother called home early in the 20th Century.
Fun personal touches carried through, with the guys getting ready amidst sweeping Brooklyn & Manhattan views in their Williamsburg neighborhood before navigating the notorious subways of NYC en route to the ceremony, stopping for local coffee and witty candids in transit. For a little greenery, a quick trolley ride with the wedding party & family carried us to the quasi-hidden Tudor City Park for portraits amidst hydrangeas and iconic Chrysler Building views.
Sweeping scenery and remarkable architecture aside, above all it was the the love and joy surrounding Tess & Brendan in their family and friends that left the most lasting impression on their wedding day. All of the stolen kisses, whispers, and "knowing" funny faces were prime examples of not just how well they know each other, but what great thoughtfulness and care they take in their own relationship and in everything they do for those around them.
If you can't quite get enough of this duo's ultra-sweet love, be sure to check out Tess & Brendan's Williamsburg Brooklyn engagement photos.
