McGowen's Farm Minnesota Wedding Photographer | Jess + Sam

We had been friends from kindergarten through highschool, losing touch somewhere amidst our transition into adulthood... until now. Quickly scanning her message, the first thing I noted: she was getting married! Within minutes we were on the phone, her warm gentle Minnesota-laden voice quietly bubbling over with all her ideas of a charming country wedding. And then there was a pause. "I would love if you took the photos," she modestly suggested. Suddenly our mirroring smiles said it all.

This Minnesota wedding was country chic to the core: cigars, cowboy boots, aviators, a labrador, hog roast, garden roses, a kaleidoscope of antique china and mis-matched glassware, and last but-most-definitely-not-least a gold vintage Cadillac Eldorado (swoon!). Personal touches were everywhere, with hair & makeup by the bride's sister, a groomsman doubling as a DJ, a 2-tiered cake made by the groom's childhood caretaker, a family friend lending her wedding planner expertise, the bride wrapping lace around each and every glass bottle she had been saving since their engagement, and - my absolute favourite - stainless steal wedding bands handcrafted by the bride's father. The degree to which everyone loved these two incredible people was so evident!

"Our inspiration comes from admiring the old days and keeping traditions with black and white elegance, vintage belgian lace, and irish charm.” Between the McGowen's farm shamrocks, horse shoes in the saloon, and a penny in the shoe there will be lots of good luck to go around.

Oh, and one more thing. This couple knows how to have fun. Like glowsticks-and-crazy-costumes-and-passing-a-communal-bottle-of-pre-game-Jameson-around-the-room-and-kiss-her-like-you-mean-it-every-single-time-and-toasts-that-had-people-doubled-over-in-laughter-F-U-N. Their love for not only each other, but for life, was absolutely contagious!
