Yale Club of New York City Wedding Photographer | Ally + Jamey

Aside from non-stop laughter and fun, Ally & Jamey's wedding day was about beautifully blending chic Irish elegance of the bride's hometown, New York City, with a touch of the groom's Southern charm, all the while honouring the importance of family by weaving heirloom details throughout. To say that each and every detail was carefully laid out would be an absolute understatement.

Ally went classic in her ultra chic Italian silk, satin and chiffon gown that freely moved with her throughout the day. Crystal & pearl detailing on her heels tied in perfectly with the pearls worn by her mother and the four pearl necklaces she gifted to her bridesmaids - symbolic of the quartet of ladies standing by her side on the day of her wedding while also commemorating the same gift her mother gave her bridesmaids for her own wedding. Other reminders of the importance Ally & Jamey place on family included her grandmother's locket fastened to the bouquet, a pair of her grandmother's earrings adorning her hair, and pieces of the groom's mother's wedding dress integrated into both the custom made handbag lent to Ally by the groom's sister and the lace that lined her cathedral length veil - one of Ally's favourite details of the day. For their gift exchange, Jamey passed along his grandmother's mink coat complete with original detailed stitching and the family monogram while Ally framed a piece of her grandfather's artwork, a detailed sketch of a saber tooth tiger, as a tribute to Jamey's enthusiasm for both art & animals. (Side note: An affinity for art was also celebrated in an artist's rendering of the couple's first dance during the reception).

A nod to Jamey's home state of Maryland, the day featured crab cake hors d'oeuvres and guest favor satchels of MD State Flower "Black Eyed Susan" seeds decked with the couples' custom monogram (designed by a family friend) and script reading "Watch our Love Bloom". Another southern touch: their slightly unconventional and deliciously irresistible Red Velvet Cake with Buttercream Frosting and Classic Cream Cheese Filling.  Yum.

Personal significance was highlighted each every step throughout the day with Ally getting ready in her family's Breezy Point beach home, rebuilt after the recent hurricanes, and Jamey suiting up in their West Village home - their first apartment together, the location of their proposal, and a place they would soon say goodbye to for a move overseas just a few months after the wedding. The ceremony? Hosted at her absolutely stunning high school church in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with a bubble & bagpipe exit to celebrate their Irish heritage. And perhaps my favourite stop of the day, en route to their reception the couple detoured to Brother Jimmy's BBQ (the very place Ally & Jamey first met) for a quick toast set to the applause of a bar full of strangers and the impromptu tune of a live band singing "Don't Stop Believing". I can't make this stuff up. It was amazing.

For colour theme, Ally & Jamey were inspired by one of their favourite hues, largely influenced by Jamey's hair, orange. Aside from bright hints in wedding party gifts & detailing, it's color wheel counterpart took a front seat for the day in navy & midnight tones. From Jamey's custom tuxedo to the bridesmaid's dresses, groomsmen's bright cobalt socks, and even the bouquet ribbon repurposed from flowers Ally's parents bought them on the day of their engagement, there were plenty of something(s) borrowed and blue on their wedding day.

If you can't quite get enough of this duo's ultra-stylish flair for fun, be sure to take a peek at Ally & Jamey's West Village engagement photos.
