According to Eileen & Kenny, their entire relationship has felt like a fairy tale from the very beginning. As such, a fairy tale theme became important to them for their wedding day since its generally believed to be unattainable and only seen in fiction. So, combining a blend of heartfelt & chic details with unbelievable moments and family tradition, they created just that.
First for the details. There were puppies with bowties and matching pocket watches for the groomsmen bettered by matching wrist watches for the bride & groom during their gift exchange. Eileen & Kenny swapped countless gifts between them, among which were "Letters to my Future Husband" from the bride and a necklace with the bride's new married name from the groom. And speaking of the groom, I'd be remiss if I didn't call to attention his truly spectacular get-up: a black velvet suit with skull cufflinks & pocket square print, topped off with an homage to Kenny's personal favourite, Einstein socks. All the while Eileen was coordinating the shades of purple found in the bridesmaid dresses with the trim on the castle.
In addition to the fun and personalized nuances, there were countless details that paid tribute to their Turkish and Italian families as well. Kenny revealed that hidden under his shirt he was wearing his grandfather's military dog tag. Eileen tucked a small pin in her bouquet just before tying tassels around its stem (which later fell off and Kenny playfully draped over his shoulders) in honour of her Turkish heritage. Her grandma tossed flower petals & rice as Eileen was escorted out the door by her father to see her groom. And perhaps one of my favourite customs of the day: traditional Turkish dancing during the reception... circling, swinging, chair lifting and all. I will say, it was a lot of fun to be an honorary Italian/Turkish for the day.
As such, it should come as no shock that with such a fun-loving couple there were truly incredible moments happening non stop from start to finish. Eileen was surprised by her bridesmaids with a photo album of their memories together and then went on to surprise her parents with cards and presents (including the sweetest personalized photo cufflinks for her dad) just before sneaking the opportunity to fix her dad's bowtie. Kenny took his dad's Corvette for a spin and later wiped away tears at the sight of his bride as he spread his arms wide and walked toward her saying "Fit for a castle, baby." They wandered the castle grounds, with Kenny climbing branches of a giant willow tree, stopping for spontaneous beard kisses, hug breaks and opportunities to pick bugs out of the netting in Eileen's gown along the way. The duo spontaneously shouted and waved to guests passing by just before the ceremony, while later Kenny gave a wink as he waited for his bride to walk up the aisle. And as the evening was rounding out, Eileen and Kenny could be found running between photo booth shenanigans and huddling around a microphone singing their hearts out as they danced at full throttle... a testament to just how much fun this pair really has together
In the couple's own words, "our love is greater than any love story we’ve ever heard" and their wedding day was a celebration of just that.
